Today we had a benefit for one of my best friends and her family. Her husband is on the transplant waiting list for a kidney and a pancreas. It was so nice to see a lot of our friends, family and neighbors show up to help. This family is the best! I guess when the doctor tells you that you need a transplant your outlook changes. A man who was once mean, self-centered and just not that fun to be around has totally did a 360 on hisself. His wife is my best friend and has always been there for everyone. She has helped so many people. She never has a bad day where she doesn't thank God for everything she has. It was a great day!
Needless to say, being busy with the benefit (I was in charge of the silent auction); I didn't get any crocheting done today. I have two orders to work on. One is routine sock monkey and moose hats but the other is exciting. I am designing as I go. It will be an Ole' school Popeye outfit for a newborn who is due in October. Popeye has always been one of my favorite characters. I can't wait to show you all the finish products. I will show you some of the patterns I have written, my finished pieces and some free patterns as I write this blog in future days.
As for the Multiple Sclerosis, it shows its ugly head just about every day during the summer. The heat here in South Louisiana is hardly bare able. It really plays havoc on MS and other diseases. This week my cognitive has been slow, my legs are heavy and I am so fatigued. Temperatures in the 90s and heat indexes in the 100s will do that to me every time.
I have been having MS for about 12 years now. One of the biggest problems is finding a great doctor. The first one I saw was in 2002, he was just kind of thrown at me when I went to the hospital for the first time. I ended up saying there for like 6 weeks. I hated it and being away from my family. MS is a hard disease to diagnose and have. In 2003, I found an awesome doctor about an hour away. He was amazing. He died about 3 years later. The next doctor moved. The next doctor ended up being too far away, the drive was making me physically sick. The next doctor retired. So right now I have no doctor. Once again, I will be on the search for a good neurologist who knows a lot about Multiple Sclerosis. I will keep y'all posted on the doctor search and will give y'all more info on MS and what it does to people.
I am hoping that you will enjoy this blog. I want it to be informative and interesting, maybe even a little funny and quirky. Next post, I will introduce myself a little better so y'all can get to know me. I hope you all have a great week.
Hugs and Best Stitches
Jen
